ÀÇÓÑ̽»¨ has developed a proven model for enriching the educational experience of all students. The Enrichment Department’s purpose is to enable students to realise their potential at school and in doing so equip and encourage each student to fulfil a purposeful role in society.
Primary School Enrichment
Enrichment is an extension of what occurs in the classroom. Our staff aim to recognise the needs of the whole child and meet their needs academically, spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
ÀÇÓÑ̽»¨ has developed a model of tiered response to intervention for enrichment which focuses on enabling all students to develop their potential to its fullest and equip them for a life beyond the College. Underpinning this evidenced based approach is our continued commitment to discovering and supporting God’s unique potential in each child.
Focused intervention is provided using targeted programs and specialised outcome focused direction. Student progress is monitored closely as classroom and enrichment teachers work collaboratively to differentiate and adjust instruction and curriculum, providing remedial or extension instruction in targeted areas of need.
The College’s enrichment and extension program seeks to meet the needs of identified students through specialist teaching in Mathematics, Literacy and STEM. Students participate in experiences such as DaVinci Decathlon, interschools debating competitions, Maths Olympiad, Science Engineering Challenge, and a variety of Writing competitions.
Secondary School Enrichment
Students often have additional needs in learning that come from a variety of factors. We have, where possible, an inclusive approach to supporting those students within a classroom. Our Secondary Enrichment department focuses on helping students develop independence as lifelong learners. The Enrichment Department collaborates with parents, teachers, and students while using external professional advice to meet the cognitive, social/emotional, sensory and/or physical needs of students.
In some cases, areas such as literacy or numeracy are addressed in small groups out of the normal regular classroom. Programs such as Macquarie Literacy Programs or Fluency reading groups are incorporated into the day for students with additional literacy needs. Students also can use check-in times to receive help with the understanding of course work and assessment tasks requirements as well as organisation and time management skills.
In conjunction with NESA guidelines and specialist recommendations, reasonable provisions and adjustments can be provided for students in meeting assessment and examination criteria to enable students to achieve their potential. The Enrichment Department facilitates special provisions with our purpose being to support our academic staff to enable students to have equal access to formal assessments.
